Tirzepatide is a stable medication, but a few simple habits keep it safe and effective.
The basics
Refrigerate at 36 to 46°F (2 to 8°C). Do not freeze.
Store in the original carton or amber vial to protect it from light.
Return the vial to the fridge right after each dose.
Keep it away from freezer vents, direct sunlight, and hot cars.
Before each injection
Look at the solution. It should be clear to slightly yellow (normal for the B6 formulation). Do not use it if it is cloudy or has particles. If anything looks off, message us with a photo before injecting.
If it sits out, or you travel
Unpunctured vials of tirzepatide tolerate time outside the fridge:
Room temperature: up to 60 days
Up to 95°F: up to 15 days
Up to 104°F: up to 5 days
Found a vial left on the counter? Put it back in the fridge and confirm it has not exceeded the limits above. Once a vial has been punctured, keep it refrigerated. For travel, a small cooler works, but room temperature for a trip is fine.
Beyond-use date (BUD)
Every vial has a BUD printed by the pharmacy. That is your expiration: check it on your own label, since BUD varies by formulation and batch. Unsure? Message us.
Safe handling
Wipe the rubber stopper with an alcohol swab before each draw
Use a new sterile syringe and needle every time
Write the date you first punctured the vial on the label
Never share vials or needles
Dispose of needles in an FDA-cleared sharps container, never the trash
