Tirzepatide is a subcutaneous injection: it goes just under the skin, not into a vein or muscle. Most guys find it quick and nearly painless once they have done it a couple of times.
Where to inject
Abdomen: a clear area on your belly. Avoid the belly button and any scars, moles, or irritated skin
Front of the thigh: the upper front of your leg where there is a soft layer of fat
Outer upper arm: works best if someone else gives the injection, since it is hard to reach yourself
Step by step
Wash your hands and check your medication and dose
Pick your site and clean it with an alcohol swab. Let it air dry
Draw your dose per your dosing instructions
Inject under the skin. Not into a vein or muscle
Remove the needle and apply light pressure with gauze if needed
Drop the needle in a sharps container. Never the regular trash
Put the vial back in the fridge
Rotate your sites
Do not hit the same spot every week. A simple rotation: left abdomen, right abdomen, left thigh, right thigh, repeat. Keep a note in your phone so you remember where you injected last. Skip any skin that is bruised, tender, or inflamed.
If you have a reaction
Mild redness right after injecting is normal. Use a cold compress and rotate away from that spot next time. If redness spreads or does not clear in a day or two, message your provider. Swelling, hives, or trouble breathing means seek immediate medical attention.
